Activities

Fishing

Throughout the Destination Vemdalen area the fishing is famously good in summer and winter. Whether you are an expert fisher or a beginner, there is always a good chance of catching a fine fish. Our waters are known for their stocks of game fish such as char, salmon trout and grayling. Fish on your own or with an experienced guide. Fishing gear is available for purchase. A fishing permit and information can be obtained from the Tourist Office.

Snow Scooter

Within Destination Vemdalen there is mile after mile of well-prepared and well-marked scooter trails. With a scooter you can get a long way up onto the mountain, with waffle huts and mountain fishing which may otherwise be difficult to reach. You can choose to go along on guided half-day or full-day tours or hire your own scooter. Maps and trail certificates can be bought at the Tourist Offices and scooter companies in the area; there is also information there about rules applying to scooters in the area.

Rambling

Our mountains are gentle and friendly to ramblers. There are trails to suit everyone, whether you are an expert or a novice, wish to take a short trip or go off for a couple of days.
Sonfjället National Park, Särvfjället, Storhogna and Vemdalskalet are examples of good rambling areas. Come into the Tourist Office to find out more; we have maps and information.

Cross-country skiing/Ski tours

In winter we often get about on cross-country skis and touring skis. Throughout the area there are good ski tours which follow roughly the same trails as summer rambles. You can also put on your cross-country skis and go for a run on our well-prepared trails. There are prepared cross-country trails in most of the villages and ski centres. Many of them have lighting so that you can ski in the evenings. You can hire skis from all of the ski rental shops in the area.
